Welcome to le Bastion de Riquewihr, our new bed and breakfast and self catering gites in Alsace! We are welcoming our first guests this Summer 2008 in an old house built in the traditional Alsatian style and recently refurbished with all modern comfort.
To celebrate the opening of our Bed & Breakfast we are pleased to offer a COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST, every day, for all of our guests!
Riquewihr is called the “Gem of Alsace”. Riquewihr is surrounded by old walls. It’s one of the most visited and prettiest villages in Alsace. Its situation in the middle of the Alsace vineyards makes its charm. Look and smell the vineyard around you! The vineyards are very colourful and get a tremendous variety of colours as a function of the seasons, the months and the days. You will find it difficult not to fall in love with Alsace.

The entrance porch situated 21 rue des Remparts proudly displays the cooper’s emblem dated 1807. The house was built by a wine grower who was also a barrel maker as shown on the archway shaped like a basket handle. You’ll be amazed by a square wooden wine press with impressive oak beams dated 1802. In a corner of the Bastion’s garden you’ll find a little house nicely proportioned. It used to be where the cooper’s apprentice lived and the basement was used as a distillery.
Weather permitting; you will enjoy a nice breakfast under overhead rambling vines. The Bastion is suitable for a week-end or a long stay.
The Garden Have you ever dreamed of one day spending some time during the holiday in an attractive garden with beautiful colourful and sweet smelling flowers? To get off to a good start to your day you’ll be welcome to have a pleasant and friendly breakfast. Let yourself be tempted by the smell of a nice Kougelhopf (Alsatian cake specialty), a good coffee, a steaming chocolate or a nice tasty pot of tea. For those who’re a bit hungrier, a selection of cold meats and fresh bread will be offered as well as a variety of fruits and other good things. A moment of pleasure just like being at home. P.S.: breakfast can be served in the garden on request, weather permitting.
